Choke 2014

Colour laser print.

200 x100 cm.

Choke uses imagery from the tabloid press and manipulates the image to zoom in to the fundamental colour blocks.

The title is a gestural pun towards the media maelstrom of Nigella Lawson and Charles Saatchii’s ‘paperazzied’ public argument and is the original source to the image. Removed from all context of the argument, we see an abstract visual backdrop, a cathartic process that negates mass media imagery to its reductive root: the matrix.
